WE DELIVER
BLACK &
BRIT-ISH
Black & Brit-ish: Our Voices, Our History, Our Story is a programme designed to help young Black people learn more about modern Black British history and the significant contributions Black communities have made to Britain. The programme also creates space for participants to explore Black British identity, reflecting on what it means to grow up in the UK and how culture, heritage, and belonging shape their experiences. Through discussion, learning, and creative expression, young people examine the impact of systemic racism on their lives while gaining a deeper understanding of the history, resilience, and achievements of Black people in Britain.

MORE THAN
SHAKESPEARE
More Than Shakespeare is a programme that reimagines poetry for a new generation by exploring the connections between spoken word, contemporary poetry, and rap music. We have found that many young people associate poetry solely with Shakespeare and traditional texts, which can feel inaccessible due to the language and historical context. This programme challenges those perceptions by showing that poetry is alive, relevant, and present in the music, culture, and conversations that young people engage with every day. Through interactive workshops, participants develop their writing, communication, and critical thinking skills while discovering poetry as a powerful tool for self-expression, creativity, and storytelling. By making poetry more relatable and engaging, More Than Shakespeare helps young people build confidence in their voices and develop a lasting connection with the written word.

"Poetic Unity has allowed me to have a home away from home. A community I can rely on for healthy and beneficial support. I’m very thankful to have found them."

WORDS THAT
RESIST
Words That Resist is a comprehensive programme that empowers young Black students to express, process, and heal from their lived experiences of racism through creative writing and spoken word poetry. The workshops provide safe and supportive environments where participants can explore topics such as race, identity, discrimination, belonging, and social justice, while developing the confidence to share their stories and perspectives. By combining creativity with critical discussion, the programme helps young people make sense of their experiences, challenge harmful narratives, and find strength in their voices.

PAGE TO STAGE
Page to Stage is an introductory poetry programme designed for young people who are new to creative writing or have only limited experience with poetry. The programme provides a supportive and engaging environment where participants learn the fundamentals of poetry, from literary techniques such as metaphors, similes, imagery, and rhythm to developing their own unique writing style and voice. Alongside building their writing skills, young people are supported to grow in confidence, improve their public speaking and performance abilities, and overcome the nerves that can come with sharing their work. The programme culminates in participants writing an original poem and performing it live at a Poetic Unity event, giving them the opportunity to celebrate their creativity and take their first steps as spoken word artists.
ANTI-RACIST TEACHER/STAFF TRAINING
As part of our commitment to creating a more equitable and inclusive society, we deliver anti-racism training for teachers and staff at schools and corporate organisations. These interactive sessions equip participants with the knowledge, confidence, and practical tools needed to foster more inclusive cultures, challenge discrimination, and create environments where everyone can thrive. Drawing on poetry, lived experience, and facilitated discussion, the training explores topics such as language, unconscious bias, representation, and the everyday behaviours that shape workplace and educational settings. Through this work, we aim to support organisations in driving meaningful change and contribute to our wider vision of a fairer, more just world for all.
